| The Stamford Center for the Arts will host its annual Juneteenth gala
June 2, 2000, at the Rich Forum, 7:30 pm (Stamford, CT). This year's celebration will
feature JUBILATION!, a musical play that both traces music of African America and pays
homage to notable Black poets. Scenes incorporate African/Afro-Cuban drumming; work songs;
spirituals; ragtime pieces; blues; jazz; gospel; and R & B songs--as well as poems by
Phillis Wheatley, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Frances E. Haper, and Langston Hughes. Complete
with Stamford and New York-area choirs and ensembles, the production follows its
predecessor Shout! (1998), written by Yale alumni Pamela Jennings and Reginald Roberts.

| The Christian Crusaders of Bethel A.M.E. Church Norwalk CT., will be hosting its 4th annual Juneteenth Carnival. The Carnival will begin on Thursday June 22nd and go through Saturday June 24th, 2000. The carnival will be held at Andrews Field located on County street, off of Westport Ave(Rt. 1), two blocks from Stew Leonards Dairy store. There will be rides and games for all ages. Live entertainment from local groups and choirs, singing, dancing, and stepping. Friday night is youth night there will be a DJ playing their style of music (6:00pm - 9:30pm), while the rest of the family enjoys the rides, games and other fun. When you come down make sure you stop by the food booths, fried fish, fried chicken, hush puppies, chop BBQ, corn on the cob, hamburgers, hot dogs, cotton candy, candy apples,popcorn, soda, juice, and much much more. Thursday June 22nd the carnival will open at 5:30 pm and close at 10:00pm, Friday June 23rd carnival opens at 5:30 pm and close at 10:00pm, and on Saturday June 24th the carnival will open at 1:00pm and close at 10:00pm.
