DE Theme: LEST WE FORGET: The History and Significance of Juneteenth Schedule of Activities Why Does the DPN Celebrate Juneteenth? The Delaware Prevention Network observes Juneteenth today as a declaration and celebration of freedom from today's forms of slavery: drugs, alcohol, tobacco, violence, and teen pregnancy. DPN provides a wide variety of activities and events designed to educate and empower Delaware's citizens and to strengthen its youth, families and communities. Schedule: Friday, 6/16: Saturday, 6/17: Sunday, 6/20: Monday, 6/19: 3 Day Juneteenth Festival Begins. Enjoy food, fun and vendors Children's Day, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.- Christina Park (4th & Church Streets)-Children of all ages enjoy Pony rides, crafts and many more activities. - Free Juneteenth Pageant. 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. -(Delaware Theatre Company, 200 Water Street) - Cost $4 children, $8 12yr to adult Youth contestants compete for the crowns of Miss Junior & Senior Juneteenth 2000; Opening Ceremonies and Parade;Welcome & Remarks - 11:00 a.m. in Rodney Square- Parade follows the welcome, (leading from 11th & Market Streets and culminates at the Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park) at M. L. King & S. Market St.) Family Day 12:00p.m.4:00 p.m. at The Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park. Enjoy kiddie rides, vendors, food & health information. Wilmington Parks and Recreation End of School Summer Concert/Jam 12:00 4:00 p.m. at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park; Live music featuring artists from across the region; Father/Family Day & Gospel Fest;3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at The Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park.
