Everyone is welcome to attend Valdosta’s 9th Annual Celebration in honor of Juneteenth. Beginning Friday, June 15, culminating with church service on June 17--three days of food, fun and festivities—and the food is free! As usual, festivities are hosted by the Southside Library Boosters Club, the City Valdosta, Georgia, and other local organizations. As in previous years, most of the activities will take place at "Southside Park," in which the library. is situated. Any proceeds raised during the free events go toward the acquistion of books, computers and other equipment/supplies needed by the library. Come join the celebration!

Emancipation Proclamation Committee, May 27,2000 Parade, Program, Block Party, Vendors; Theme: A Past to Cherish & A Future To Fulfill in The New Millennium. 3000 people expected. Keynote speaker Rev. Charles Jones of Macon, Ga. This event is 137 years old.
Lithonia
The Sankofa Ministry of New Bethel AME Church, Lithonia, Georgia is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17th from 12 noon to 5:00pm. The celebration will be an outdoor Cultural Marketplace & Festival with a program beginning at 1:00pm with discussion about Juneteenth and Freedom Days around the diaspora. Their will be youth participation, music & other entertainment. Vendors are welcome. The celebration will be held in the parking lot at the Stonebridge Shopping Plaza at the intersection of HWY 124 & Rockbridge Road in Lithonia. Columbus
In West Georgia and East Alabama we celebrate May Day on 28th. That is the date we celebrate the observance of the African American Emancipation Day in a community called The Battle Community which is located in Pittsview, AL. Thousands of people from near and far come back on May 28, to celebrate our freedom. We got the news in May of 1863. This celebrations has been going on for years. This celebration last for the weekend. It is celebrated the last weekend of May of each year. This is our black homecomming.
