June 19, 2010 - Charter Oak Cultural Center - Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. Gather with your friends and neighbors to make a pilgrimage of remembrance from the Charter Oak Cultural center to Hartford’s African Burial Ground, where a ceremony of commemoration will take place. Saturday, June 19th 5:30PM.

NEW HAVEN
June 19, 2009 - Community Network of African American Professional @ AT&T, Connecticut Chapter - We will be hosting a celebration of the Black Independence Day Celebration with food, storytelling, games, and acknowledgement of ancestors passed.  We will also begin the process of incorporating this into becoming an annual event and include all those organizations and groups whom have impacted the Black Community.  This is being done to celebrate, not only our freedom but the contributions that our ancestors and contemporaries have made and continue to make.  The event will take place at the Lighthouse Park at the main pavilion.  It will begin at 4:00PM and continue until dusk.
 
HARTFORD
June 13, 2009 - The Amistad Center for Art & Culture at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art - 600 Main St. Hartford, CT 06106 10 a.m.-4 p.m. ARTivities include make your own five-dollar bill, create a costume, join in the scavenger hunt, enjoy a guided tour of the Museum. Radio Disney games from noon to 1:30; Art in Motion, a community dance performance from 1:30 to 3:30.

Juneteenth of Fairfield County, Inc. - Parade on June 18, 2005 beginning at 12:00pm, proceeding down Park Avenue into Seaside Park to the Band Shell. Festival immediately following the parade will include vendors, live entertainment: singers, dancers, comedians, gospel choirs, a fashion show and more. Entertainers, parade participants and vendors will be arriving from New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts to help celebrate this memorable event.

Saturday June 11th:  In preparation of this inspiring event, Community for Change for the Arts, Inc (CFCFA) is scheduled to participate in the International Festival of Arts and Idea' Drum City Parade.  Free. Monday June 13th:  12 Noon, kickoff celebration on the New Haven Green saluting the raising of the African American flag at New Haven City Hall. Wednesday June 15th:  New Haven Public Libraries (Stetson & Main Branch). The American Experience Movie: Roots of Resistance: A Story of the Underground Railroad.  The movie is open to the general public and will run in succession from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Free Lunch provided. Thursday June 16th: Panel discussion: “Promoting the Beauty and Health of African Americans”.  Community Outreach Center, 654 Orchard St 5-7:00 pm.  Moderator: Rev. Frederick J. Streets.   Free.  Friday June 17th:  A semi forma gala held at the Shubert Theatre. Highlights include an art exhibit depicting the slavery era, African American memorabilia collections, a silent auction, a grand soul food buffet and live music.  In memory of the late Ron Brown, former Secretary of Commerce (1993-1996)Keynote Speaker-William W. Gingsberg, President and CEO of Community Foundation of Greater New Haven. Saturday June 18th: Family Day at Edgewood Park featuring outdoor B-B-Q, family activities, ethnic games, arts and crafts, health & substance abuse informative booths, seminars, voter registration, vendors, and much more.
