Juneteenth festival will be held on the grounds of the
Santa Fe Trail Center/Museum,2 miles west of town on 156
Hiway, Events will begin at 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The theme is "Breaking the Chains for Freedom", and is
linked with the Smithsonian Exhibit "Between the
Fences", Abe Lincoln and wife Mary Todd will attend and
make a presentation (John Voelk and wife)from Colo.
portray the Lincolns, Talented Lemmuel Sheppard will
play and sing folk & Blues songs, Angela Bates Historian
and speaker will share information.Gospel music will be
provided by Choirs and Praise Teams Featuring Melanie
Ryan.Food ,clothing,arts and crafts,candles and oil
fragrances vendors will be plentiful, Karaoke,
cakewalks, petting Zoo,Moon Walk, dunking tanks, Santa
Fe Trail Museum tours available plus the Smithsonian
Exhibit "Between Fences" on display within the museum.
The Buffalo Soldiers of Nicodemus will present
reenactments, Food Fun and friendship will make this 9th
annual Juneteenth a memorable occasion, Everyone welcome

The 6th. annual KCK NAACP Juneteenth celebration will be
held at Quindaro Park, 34th. & Sewell in Kansas City KS.
on Sat. June 18th. from noon till 6pm. We will
have entertainment by local artists, free food and
pop,(while it lasts!), vendors, a big raffle with many
great prizes, a give-away of Hallmark gift items, great
speakers, magic and balloons by Gene Hernandez,
opportunities to learn about African-American
culture,and lots of family-oriented fun and fellowship!
This event is open to the whole community, and we hope
that everyone will feel welcome to join us as we
celebrate the end of slavery in America! (Alcohol-free

two annual major fund-raising events for the KCK NAACP.

STARDUSTERS JUNETEENTH 2005
Stardusters International, author of the 1st and largest
Juneteenth Celebration in Kansas, will host our 29th
Annual Juneteenth on June 17th, 18th & 19th, 2005 in
Topeka, KS. This Years Celebration is presented by
Women In Action, (Women fighting against Racial
Discrimination and Injustice) and Topeka Parks and
Recreation, The Celebration will be like none other, and
will explode with prospects of over 50,000 people to
attend. Events are still being added the tentative
agenda includes:
The Festivities begin Friday, June 17th, 2005 with a
Women In Action –State Wide Conference, followed by a
Juneteenth Ball; Saturday starts with a 11:00 am Parade
through Downtown Topeka (parade begins at 11th and
Jackson). Following the Parade, the Festivities
will continue 2 days with 50,000 plus participants
estimated, as we have moved the celebration for 2005 to
Topeka’s Largest Park, Gage Park, (635 SW Gage) which
includes the World famous Topeka Zoo, Mini Train,
Carousel, Blaisdell Family Aquatics Swimming Pool, Rose
gardens, Baseball diamonds, the Big Gage Shelter house
and an excellent Amphitheater. Sunday June 19th,
2005 will be a FREE DAY with all of the above free to
Juneteenth participants.
Saturday Gage Park activities will include:
Softball Tournaments, Horseshoes tournaments, Live
Entertainment featuring the Midwest’s own, Eklectic
Driven Live Band and other Jazz, Hip Hop and R& B bands
performing throughout the day. Saturday Evening,
7:00pm the fun will move to Hillcrest Park (1800 SE
21st) for the Juneteenth Basket Ball Tournament and
Talent Show.
Sunday June 19th, its All FREE, the World Famous Topeka
Zoo, Carousel, Mini Train, Family Aquatics swimming
Pool, and pony rides. VIP Speakers, prizes and
awards, including the Oldest African American present at
6:00pm. Continued Live Entertainment . "There is

Juneteenth Celebration will kick off with a Parade with line-up at Wichita State University to McAdams Park. Opening Ceremony will continue with the Guest Speaker Mr. Donald Betts. This year we will local entertainment with a evening of old school jazz and blues. Steppin and Stompin with local and out of state Drill Teams. Of course this event always draws ages 1 to 99. Local Vendors will have crafts, arts and the famous BBQ and Strawberry Pop (Got to be there). Don't forget to buy your button $2.00. June 19, Sunday local church choirs will be performing throughout Wichita, closing the evening with local jazz.
