STILLWATER
June 19 & 23, 2007 - Southern Woods Community Association - Stillwater's Juneteenth Independence "Day 1" Celebration will be on Tuesday, June 19 at 7:00p.m. at the Stillwater Community Center.  Learn the history, hear local stories, and enjoy live music and awards.  Juneteenth Independence "Day 2" will be on Saturday, June 23 at Southern Woods Park on 12th Street from 10am to 8:00pm. Games, contests, DJ, Studio B Jazz Band, food and more.  In case of rain, Saturday activities will be moved to the Stillwater Comunity Center.  All are welcome to both events.  No charge. Saturday, June 23, 2007 - Juneteenth Celebration Committee - Ponca City's Juneteenth Celebration will be held at Attucks Community Center and Park and at the 101 Rodeo Grounds (Ash & Prospect) on Saturday, June 23, 2007. Events at the center and park, 1013 S. 12th Street will be from 10:30 a - 2:30 p.  Events will include games for children, DWe Williams- Griot, bingo, card games, dominoes and free picnic style lunch.  At 8:00 p.m. the FIRST Multicultural Rodeo will take place at the 101 Rodeo Grounds.  The 101 was home for Bill Pickett, Black Cowboy who invented 'Bulldogging" (steer wrestling).On Sunday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. a community church service will be held at Attucks Community Center.  This year marks the 100th anniversary of statehood for Oklahoma.  The Juneteenth Celebration and Rodeo is a recognized centennial event by the State Centennial Commission.  Cowboys wanting to participate in the Rodeo should contact Don Stevens - 918-428-1138.  Others wanting information can Contact – Diane Anderson 580.765.2499 or 580.767.3662

June 15-16, 2007 - Eastside Capitol Gateway Main Street - The Annual Juneteenth BBQ Cook-Off and Festival on June 15th - 16th 2007. This event will be at the Oklahoma State Capitol South Park in Oklahoma City. Bar-B-Que contestants will come from all over the state and Texas to compete for the title of “Master of the Pit” with a $$ Cash top prize. A full day of Free entertainment will consists of music, singers, plays, dance and poetry. games, arts and crafts for the Children. Over 50 vendors provide a multitude of food, arts, and cultural products to the public. This festival attracts over 5000 people.

PONCA CITY
Ponca City Network Group - June 18, 19, 2005 The Ponca City Celebration will include planned activities for children and adults.  Jahruba, - The African Connection will perform in the afternoon.  Jahruba is a 21st century Griot – an African storyteller – who shares his cultural history and traditions through songs and stories handed down by his ancestors. And "Kids Korner" will have games, prizes and inflatables for those 12 years of age and under to enjoy.  A 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be hosted throughout the day with finals in the afternoon.  B-I-N-G-O will be played in the afternoon with those participating having an opportunity to win great prizes.  Picnic style lunch fare will be served FREE of charge from 12 noon - 2:00 p.m.  Horseshoes, dominoes, horseback riding and other events will take place throughout the day on Saturday.  Saturday evening Les Taylor and company will perform  Mr. Taylor is equally adept at singing jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, reggae, soca and calypso.  Mr. Taylor have enjoyed success as a recording artist and opened for The Manhattans, Johnny Maestro and the Crests, The Ronnettes, Big Dee Ivin and others. The celebration ends with a community Church Service on Sunday, June 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. held at Attucks Community Center.  Reverend Johnny Thompson, Pastor or Powerhouse of Faith Worship Center will deliver the message and music will be provided by other participating churches.  The service is non denominational and all are welcome.  Dinner, free of charge will be served following the worship service.
 
The Society of Urban Poets (SOUP) will have a booth at the Annual Juneteenth Celebration on the grounds of Ralph Ellison Library on June 18, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. SOUP publishes a free Juneteenth Souvenir book each year and distributes it free at the event. It contains Information about Juneteenth, a calendar of events of interest to the African American community, prize-winning poetry and information about the SOUP organization.    There will also be various vendors from across OKC and beyond. These vendors will sell goods as well as disseminate pertinent health information to the African American community. Families can enjoy games, poetry, music, dance and fun at this community event. Genealogy and family history information workshops as well as a book talk and a cake walk will be highlighted. This event  is free and open to the public.
MUSKOGEE
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - Muskogee VA Regional Office Friday, June 17, 11:00-1:00 - Our celebration is held outside under our building's overhang.  Local musicians provide jazz music and our station Employees Association sells BBQ sandwiches, chips and a drink.  We also host a Juneteenth trivia contest with prizes.  This has become an annual event that employees look forward to every year.
