June 21, 2008 - LCSA Scholarship Committee - We will hold the Juneteenth Family Picnic Celebration at the Weed & Seed Safe Haven Park. We will begin with greetings, the meaning of the occasion, a devotion and inspirational singing. We will have contests, such as hula hoop, sweet  potato pie contest, modeling of African apparel, a silent auction, vendors and much more! There will also be the crowning of the World's Greatest Father. Youth will write an essay telling why their father is the greatest. The winning essay will be read at the event and the winner will receive a gift card.

June 7TH, 2008 - Delta Sigma Theta - Delta Sigma Theta(RCAC) wil be holding the annual Juneteenth festival on June 7th, 2008. From I-24w, get off on exit 81b and make a right onto Church Street, then a right on Broad Street. Then make a left on Mercuruy Boulevard. Look for Hancock street on the left side and you will see the festival from the main street. There will be food, fun, vendors for all ages. Nashville, Tennessee, June 15 and 16.  This inaugural effort is being observed and celebrated with the launching of a website, yard signs, and distribution of printed material about Juneteenth.  It's free and open to all to promote wider observance, expand ideas and activities, and increase participation, for future celebrations.

June 15, 16 & 17, 2007 - Juneteenth Freedom and Heritage Festival - The 14th Annual Juneteenth Freedom and Heritage Festival is held each year in Douglass Park, North Memphis, always the third weekend in June.  June 15, 16 & 17, 2007.  Friday is Kid's, Teacher's and Senior's Day from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. with African Dance, Drummers, Storytellers, Rap, Gospel and children dance teams. Saturday and Sunday a variety of entertainment including R & B, Rap, Jazz and Hip Hop on Saturday 11-8, Gospel, Gospel Jazz and Jazz on Sunday 11-7 (Father's Day). Plenty of kiddie rides, horseback riding, food and merchandise vendors, family and class reunions, picnics and more.  Juneteenth Festival is admission Free.

The 12th
Annual Juneteenth Freedom & Heritage Festival is held each year in Douglass Park, North Memphis.  Held Father's Day Weekend, June 17, 18, & 19, 2005.  Friday is Kid's & Senior's Day featuring African Drummers, Classical, & Hip Hop. Saturday is A Salute to "Black Music Month" with Blues, R & B, Ole School, Hip Hop & Rap. Sunday is a Salute to Father's featuring Gospel, Jazz, & Gospel Jazz.  June 18-19, 2005 - Juneteenth Freedom & Heritage Festival
10:00 to 4:00 - Belle Meade Plantation presents the 1st Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival.  The festival includes crafts, food, stage performances and history. Craft booths and food vendors will line the outside of the festival area.  A children’s activity area features crafts and games related to African American history.  The Belle Meade staff provide tours of the grounds, museum theater vignettes and living history at the 1830’s slave cabin.  Professional actors, musicians and storytellers perform on the stage.

1:00 to 4:00 -The theme for the day is Community Picnic.  The public is encouraged to arrive for a picnic and listen to speeches from community leaders as well as some good music.  Food vendors will be on hand but visitors may also pack their own picnic lunch.

CHATTAHOOCHEE
On June 18th the Original Central Florida Bass Club Northwest and Central Branches (OCFBC)will host their 3rd Annual Juneteenth Invitational Tournament. The tournament activities will start on Friday June 17th in Chattahoochee, Florida wih the Juneteenth Youth Activities for ages 4-16. And at 7:00pm the history of Juneteenth as well as presentations, eating and pairing will be held at the Chattahoochee clubhouse. The bass tournament will start Saturday at safe daylight and end at 3:00pm. African American pro bass anglers from Alabama, Georgia, The Carolinas, Florida and Mississippi will compete for cash and prizes.
