14, 2008 -Charleston-Institute Alumnae Chapter of Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority - Community wide celebration on
June 14, 2008 at West Virginia State University's
Shawnee Park, in Institute, WV, between 10:00 am and
3:00 pm.,with singers, mimes, dramatizations,
Appalachian storytelling, jazz and gospel music, African
drum ensembles,unicycle performances, puppeteers,
skateboard tricks, martial arts exhibitions,orations,
fun activities for children vendor booths for
pictures,crafts,assorted foods and much more. The
only charge is for foods or vendor items. |

18-19, 2005 - Local Chapters of the NAACP & AKA
- The Harrisonburg/Rockingham County chapter of
the National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People (NAACP) and the Sigma Gamma Omega chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will co-host a
Juneteenth Celebration, on Saturday & Sunday, June
18-19, 2005. This “picnic-style” event takes place
over two days. Saturday, the 18th,
festivities take place from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM at
the Merck Shelter in Elkton, Va. Sunday’s events
will be held at the newly renovated Lucy F. Simms
Continuing Education Center in Harrisonburg from
4:00PM-5:30 PM. Cost: FREE! |
