JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION June 20,1998 Saturday 10:00a.m. - 4:00 This day is celebrated by African Americans in honor of their ancestors who received notice (June 19) of President Lincoln's Freedom Proclamation several months after the majority of other slaves in the country. There is great - entertainment, speakers, food, and tours of the historic buldings given by the Friends of Allensworth volunteers for your educational experience. Allensworth was founded in California by African American pioneers and downtown is preserved as a State Historic Park. Everyone is welcome.
